An emphasis on safety and loss prevention is core to the club’s drive in ensuring that the tonnage entered into the club is of good quality
In addition, the club is committed to assisting members in reducing the incidence of accidents and claims. This is achieved through a programme of ship condition surveys, management risk reviews, publications, presentations and training focussed on topical subjects.
The club’s rules allow that every ship entered into the club is made available to be surveyed by the club to ensure that the entered tonnage is of good quality .
Surveys are generally carried out:
- On all newly entered ships over specified years old by clubs
- On entered ships over specified years old and for which a heavy fuel oil declaration has been made
- On a routine basis for entered ships, depending on fleet size/type/age and the member’s record
- As a result of a port state control detention
